Weird Baby Discovery of the Day

Slobberella is a tongue-roller like her dad. I can curl it up at the sides but can't roll my tongue completely over, so I was a bit taken aback when she did it the first time. It's her new thing so she's doing it a lot.

Apparently on his side of the family people are tongue biters as well, which means they stick their tongue out of the side of their mouths and chew on it. I'm hoping this familial characteristic isn't genetic and nothing a little behaviorism training with a clicker won't fix.

Obviously I write this with my tongue in cheek (hey, it's The Week of Lame Puns 'round here) but my husband says it's an awful thing to witness and in combination with the family's big, brown eyes lends a bovine effect to the chewer.

Lately it seems that she changes daily, getting bigger and more impatient to move around. She manages to be mobile but isn't quite doing the standard crawling thing yet. Every day brings new discoveries, whether it be the tongue flip or a new non-standard crawling position. I'd heard that babies were fun, and it's true. I think this is the best time I've ever had.

Isn't it fun watching your baby learn and discover new things?!

And don't worry about the crawling. That will come soon enough!
