The Sun Will Come Out

Well, I'm feeling better although a little guilty about my last post. We had another visit with said person that went surprisingly well; I had the opportunity to say my piece and was met with understanding. Hallelujah, a miracle has occurred. I needed a little bit of that. It's very nice to have those kinds of visits.

I also realized I've been Mrs. Hormone City for quite some time now. Well, it's either that or I have indeed been driven batshit crazy and should be on medication. Instead of whining I should just be grateful that my husband and I have tolerated each other for this long. In our discussion on how we are addicted to TV and should strive to find other, more intellectual things to do, one of us suggested Scrabble as an alternative. Guess which one of us that was. I'll give you a hint: it's not just any kind of Scrabble, it's Strip Scrabble. Nothing says romance like nudity and little wooden blocks with letters on them. On the other hand, I'm pretty good at spelling dirty words.

Baby E. is smiling more and more and loves to look in the mirror. Sometimes I am really good at getting her to give me a full-gummed smile and other times she will look at me with an expression that just says, "Mom, you're an eejit." At those times I can flash-forward to the future when I will be the one person who can embarrass her the most. I guess it's good to be prepared.

She lost all of her hair from the front to the back except for a long-haired monk's tonsure -- although in my opinion she looks more like a little old man than a man of religion. I'm just waiting for it to get long enough so I can do some kind of comb-over. I love her to bits and am even sort of getting into dressing her in cute outfits. One thing I will pay more attention to back home next time I visit is how people dress their little babies. I tended to keep Baby E. in pyjamas just because they were easier and more convenient (that, and the fact she's just now big enough to fit in the clothes we were given), but I've noticed that other mothers will dress their newborns in actual matching outfits. I'm going to have to start doing better.

Glad you're getting back to your old self. You sound better and I bet it's because someone keeps smiling at you.
Keep on enjoying the little one and don't sweat the small stuff it to shall pass.
Love that the little one is growint and I hope the outfit gets there before she out grows it. Please let her wear it once anyway.

Thanks, a'mom'ymous. I think your package arrived, but I have to go to the post office to get it this time. I'll let you know for sure. It's been too cold to put her in the cute skirts and stuff, but I'll take pix once I can.

But french baby clothes are so darn expensive here! I wanted to send something back to one of my friends and I almost had a heart attack thinking about how many times the little tyke would wear it in relation to the cost

I hope you're feeling better now. I know it's not always easy in the first few months. Between baby and husband, it can be a lot to handle!

If ya ever need/want a fellow American (and mother!) in France to chat to, feel free to email me at fromfloridatofrance@yahoo.com

Keep your chin up! ;o)
