Global warming, my foot

I am officially cold. Ever the optimist, I took the baby outside yesterday in her buggy without a hat for a very short nip out to return a video, when I actually ran into someone I knew who then said, "Are you sure she isn't cold?" Ah, the guilt. I then put her little hat on her head and then walked the 15 steps back to the apartment. Today, in order to avoid any possible shame, I dressed her in a coat to check the mail.

She has taken a bit of a step backwards with her weight, so we're back on the medicine and are taking more proactive steps to figure out exactly what is going on. This means a more invasive procedure which I'm not thrilled about, but it's too upsetting to have a very unhappy baby at mealtimes so I think it needs to happen. She was great for about a week and a half after her visit to the osteopath, and then started her slow backslide. On the positive side, she still can be a smiley baby at times and is hitting her developmental milestones (except for weight). We'll get there...it's just taking a while.

At first I was constantly worried I might do something to make the outside world think I didn't know how to be a good parent. Don't worry. That feeling will go away and you can do what your instincts tell you to do.

Thanks, Papades2. I can't wait for that to happen. I do all right at home, of course, but am learning to always be prepared as soon as I step foot outside of my place. Once I didn't bring enough diapers (scary how many they can go through) and ended up taping a burp cloth to her butt for the trip home.
