Can't be bothered with a title today

This morning as I was fixing myself one of those super nutritious PMF breakfasts in which I consume more sugar than I really need (am using food as a reward for getting out of bed at this point), I poured my orange juice straight into the jar of Nutella. I was like, "Hmmmmmm...something doesn't look quite...oh." So I drank my juice out of the Nutella jar and then of course had to eat more Nutella than I'd originally intended, seeing as how I couldn't let the OJ cause the chocolate to fester or whatever.

I am so sleep deprived, it's not funny. The books said it should have gotten better by now and the nurses all seem to think my baby should be sleeping through the night, but we're far from it. Very far. And don't get me started on how short her naps are, no matter how well (I feel) I soothed, got her ready, checked my timing, and so forth. The good news is that she did okay for her weekly weight gain, so next I'm tackling sleep. I ordered a book that I'm counting on to help (thanks, Aimee) -- Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child -- but it's about 500 pages long and just guess how far I've gotten. I think there needs to be a quick one-page summary that will fix me just enough to allow me to stay awake long enough to finish the rest of the book.

Yes, it will get better amd surprisely you really won't remember all the bad nights and days. I wish I could give you a magic answer, but I don't have one.
Now that the weight gain is fine maybe sleep will come soon.
With vacation time upon you maybe that will prove to be a blessing. Maybe your friend will have some answers. Best of luck and keep up the good work. She is a doll.

Wow, isn't weight gain the best?! Hmm, I don't really agree with Anonymous. I think back to those doctors and midwives who told me that all would change after 6 weeks, that I wouldn't feel like I was just surviving. Hhhmmm, I think the reality is that you just get used to it and decide that this is what life is like!

But the sleep will get better and I guess that contributes to everything overall....

Enjoying your blog. My second son is 14 weeks (similar age to your daughter I think). He sleeps like a log and has done from 6 weeks (no idea why - still feeds twice but barely wakes up and he's off to sleep again). My first son on the other hand woke up every 2 hours to feed and feed and feed and feed until he was 6 months old and only then did it improve slowly. I felt I think like you feel now. The only thing I'm doing differently is that with number 2 I don't change nappies until the morning even if it leaks a little. If it's bad I'll change it. With number 1 I was a bit neurotic and changed his nappy everytime he fed which actually just woke him up as he was falling asleep. Maybe that is making it different this time...who knows with babies. Hope you get some sleep soon, it does get better eventually.

Amaya still wakes up at 4am to feed at 6 months. She slept through the night about 4 times. She is just dang hungry. I dont have the answer, just have lots of ice coffee in the morning. In the nutella jar is a good idea!
